THE ARTS SHOWCASE 🎨
The Toronto Global Shapers will be hosting the Refugee Art Project, a multimedia showcase featuring art and live performances in support of Love Without Borders, a grassroots organization that directly helps hundreds of refugees with their basic needs. The event follows in the footsteps of cities like Global Shapers – San Francisco Hub, Washington DC Global Shapers and Global Shapers Ottawa to engage the Toronto community in informed dialogue and celebrate the dignity of others through art and culture.

The artwork on site that will be showcased has been made by children living in camps and housing communities in Greece. With this showcase, we not only hope to celebrate Canada’s large intake of refugees, but also provide a space for discussion regarding what we, as global citizens, can do to help amidst this crisis.

THE CAUSE 🎗️
Founded in 2016 by American aid worker Kayra Martinez, Love Without Borders is a registered non-profit that provides therapeutic art workshops for refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cameroon etc. living in camps and housing communities in Greece.

Ms. Martinez has formed a traveling exhibition of art from her programs that has been shown throughout the United States, Canada, South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and across Europe.

We are thrilled to partner with Love Without Borders for its inaugural Toronto exhibit.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL SHAPERS 🌎
Founded in 2011, the Global Shapers Community is a network of high-potential people under age 35 identified by the World Economic Forum. Members include leading entrepreneurs such as the Co-Founder of Airbnb. The Global Shapers Community has non-profit “Hubs” in 8 major Canadian cities and in all 50 American States. The Community has no single agenda or purpose. Rather, it is a platform that enables its members to pursue their own projects, and collaborate on others’, in a way that amplifies their impact.
