Welcome

“There is the sky, which is all men’s together…” –Euripides (412 B.C.)

“Be the change which you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Ghandi

“The first day or so we all pointed to our countries. The third or fourth day we were pointing to our continents. By the fifth day, we were aware of only one Earth.” –Sultan bin Salman Al-Saud, astronaut

Since the beginning of September there were reports of an exodus of people leaving their war torn countries in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan due to civil war. They were heading to Europe to provide a better life for their families.

As an American citizen from Durango, Colorado, working in Germany I got in touch with people in my area that were helping at the main train station (Hauptbahnhof-Gleis 24). I would go in between my work trips to hand out food, sort clothes, work as a translator and help distribute aid to the refugees arriving in Frankfurt and continuing on.
I also been involved with a group of amazing volunteers who take warm food to the camps in Frankfurt. We also have a
facility to accept clothing donations which is constantly in need of sorting and distributing as well as organizing convoys taking aid to the hotspots in Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

I decided to start my own Facebook page as well as set up a gofundme campaign to support the refugees. I have spent many hours a day reading the compelling stories and reaching out to many people in Austria and Germany to offer financial donations. My friends, family and complete strangers have been so generous to support my campaign. I have recieved almost $7,000 to date with almost 1600 members joining my Facebook page. I have been able to send numerous boxes to Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Syria, and several cities in Germany.

As an avid traveler I searched out places where help was mostly needed and set off to Nickelsdorf, Austria to work with the Red Cross distributing aid to the refugees. I worked at Nova Rock as well as Flugdach on the Austrian/Hungarian border.
I also visited an orphanage in Semmering/Steinhaus to visit the group of boys I had been sending financial aid to.

I am organizing donations from people in the U.S. and bringing them back to Germany as well as distributing them to much needed refugee camps around Germany as well as Austria.

I have spent 2weeks in Leros, Greece and worked alongside with Leros Solidarity Network UK.
This is the first port of entry for the refugees after crossing the perilous Aegean waters on their journey to safety.
I was able to take much needed clothing, shoes and toiletries as well as financial support that I was able to use directly in Leros to support the Greek economy. I am currently in Kos, Greece working alongside Kos Solidarity.

In January I will go to Budapest, Hungary to take clothes and needed items to the refugees that are in the detention centers.

My goal is to go to one of the hotspots every month. Taking aid and some much needed love to these people.
They deserve respect and dignity and
unfortunately on their journey they have been met with so many obstacles. I want to be a part of the grass roots efforts that are going on highlighting the compassionate side of the human spirit.

Follow my journey!
Thank you
